CATH

Two years ago yesterday you passed away,

Where has all that time gone? I just couldn’t say.
A big void still remains in my heart,
I still remember that phone call, the day after—S on the line said you had to depart.

I cannot say the grief has gone,
I try my best, but I am very wrong.

We were going on a trip with Woods sometime very soon,
It should have been in the month of June.

No more trips to Brugge, our favourite place,
My dear friend Cath, full of grace.

No more trips into town for a coffee and cake,
We even went to Austria to see the Sound of Music lake.

A chateau just outside of Paris was another break away,
We glammed ourselves up for the day.
In our posh dresses walking down the stairs,
I could imagine them coming down in their Victorian wears.

Christmas markets, a moment in time,
A hotel in Valkenburg with a pool suited us just fine.

A trip to Ostend, beer on my head,
Another tourist drunk—she was not street cred.

We have had so many good times,
It gives me a chance for poetry and my little rhymes.

I wonder if you have met up with Fiona over the bridge,
With a glorious mountain over the ridge.

What is it like in heaven, Cath? I would love to know.
