Soon you will be laid to rest,
Seventy years of service—you were the very best.


The piper at 9:15 the Queen would hear,
From her room in the palace, or somewhere very near.
The marching of the Blues and Royals
Will take Her Majesty home from all her toils.


Seventy years of service with a smile,
Now it is time to rest for a while.


The country will mourn you; we have never known anything else,
You were caring and approachable, even though you had so much wealth.
You were highly respected throughout the globe,
Now we are crying as you take the spiritual road.


Over 2,000 persons in the Abbey to say their thanks,
In their minds, you were at the top of the ranks.


From all the nations they came to pray,
That you are now at peace and with Philip today.


So now I want to say thank you for a job well done,
No bad words to say about you—definitely none.


Now we leave you in God’s holy care,
Memories will never die; they are always there to share.


I met you once, and Princess Diana five times—
Maybe somebody on here will like my little rhymes?


Now I must go and watch the funeral of the century,
We know you will be there on the verge of God’s special entry.


Soon we will all have to meet our Maker,
We know Heavenly Father will not forsake her.


Wherever we go, whatever we do,
In our hearts we will always remember you.

First there were memories of Rowena and yourself in the pub, Gomaa was the owner, the best place with the best grub. The good-looking man with the black, curly, bushy hair, Sitting with a newspaper and a cup of tea, You would say, “Come and sit next to me on the chair.” With a cigarette in your mouth, happily smiling away, “How come, Alison, you are always late? I would like you to stay.” “Please do not dash off, I would like to talk,” But you had no time, off you would walk. At the belly dancing night you told me to behave, Manoud used to take me to the Luxor cemetery To put flowers on your grave. A TRIBUTE TO SOLICITOR BRENDAN

  I met Brendan in his office on a cold winter day, A service user introduced us—I didn’t know what to say. Brendan’s voice was so calm, he had lots to declare About the unfairness of the system—it just was not fair. Brendan said that he was happy to take PAIN cases, he said yes with a smile, One of the best solicitors in the UK at the Family Court trial. The care proceedings wins began to grow, Case law flowing, Brendan’s face would glow. Brendan spoke on my video for the Daily Mail Inspirational Women of the Year— A finalist, oh what a cheer. Brendan would open his office at weekends and very late at night, Even on Easter Monday, he would still be there to get the skeleton arguments just right. He would talk at conferences—in my opinion, Solicitor of the Year, Soon Brendan was to retire, I thought, “Oh my goodness, oh dear.” Fully retired?
